Barnes

Barnes is a quaint little village of 160 citizens, located in Washington County, 45 minutes north of Manhattan, KS on Kansas Highways 9 and 148.  A great day trip for shopping the niche stores, which include an antique store and year-round Christmas shop.  Dine at the Hometown Cafe, featuring meals made from scratch dishes.  You don’t want to miss the homemade pies just waiting to be tasted.  Don’t pass-up the restored I.O.O.F. Park founded in the early 1900’s, featuring the smallest band shell in Kansas built by the WPA in 1939.

Barnes is home to the lighted horse parade, the Saturday evening following Thanksgiving. As well as, the Antique and Junque Fest held the 3rd Saturday in August.

Plan to wave at everyone as you drive by, they will wave back!
