Jail Procedures for Visitation

Jail Procedures for Visitation

  1. Visitation is Thursday through Sunday by appointment only from 2 pm to 4pm. Inmates are allowed (2) 1/2 hour visits or (1) 1 hour visit per week.
  2. All appointments must be made 24hrs in advanced. You can schedule an appointment by calling 785-325-2293 ext 1.
  3. The only things allowed to be brought to the Jail for the inmates is cash or money orders to be applied to the inmates account. All other items must be reapproved by Jail staff prior to being brought in. Any item not reapproved will be rejected by Jail staff.
  4. All visitors are required to have a valid photo I.D. or valid passport. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the visit. 
  5. Clothing requirements:
    • No clothing that reveals bare shoulders, bare midriff, or any part of the breast.
    • No see through or braless attire
    • No mini-skirts or slit-skirts/dresses
    • No shorts, except for children ten or under
    • No capri pants that do not extend below the knee
    • No bare feet
    • No clothing that proclaims gag affiliation or promotes drug/alcohol use
    • No cut off t-shirts
  6. Any personal items other than I.D., each or money order must be left in your vehicle.
  7. No cell phones allowed at any time within the building by visitors.
  8. Any personal items Brough into the Jail are subject to search by staff.

Putting Money and Phone time on Inmate’s Account

  1. The only way to put money on an inmate’s account is to bring cash to the Jail or to mail a Money order, filled out to the inmate to: 301 B St. Washington, KS 66968.
  2. We are not connected to any other facility or county systems.
  3. We use Encartele phone system. You may contact them at 1-800-562-7062 or 1-866-476-6723 or www.encartele.net to place money on inmate phone account.
  4. We use Cidney Kiosk system for personal messaging and Video visits. You can go to their website: https://customer.cidnet.net/login to set up an account. You must have an email account to utilize this system.

Mail

  1. An inmate can receive photographs, letters, and money orders in the mail.
  2. Do not send envelopes, paper, stamps, printed materials, or anything else. These items are considered contraband and will be returned to the sender.
  3. Clothing can be sent by mail but only if prior approval from jail staff is received before sending. Items that can be approved to be mailed are; underwear, socks, and t-shirts that are white and brand new, still in the package.
  4. Any publications that are mailed must be sent directly from the publisher and must be approved by jail staff before it is sent or it will be returned.
  5. To get approval or to ask questions, call 785-325-2293 and request to speak with someone in the jail and they will be happy to assist you.
